Staffing:

Psychiatrists, clinical psychologist, occupational therapist, nurses, and mothercraft nurses

Service Focus:

1. Must have a permanent address within the ADHB area.
2. Must be more than 13 weeks pregnant or up to 12 months post-natal.
3. Must have mental health issues related to perinatal period, or have an episode of mental illness related to perinatal period, or are currently clients of CMHCs requiring specialist consultation.
4. Pre-pregnancy consultations are offered for women with existing mental illness or identified to be at high risk of such.

Types of Service:

Assessment, range of treatments offered. Outpatient only (no inpatient beds).

Referral Process:

1. Referrals received from GPs, Obstetricians, Hospital Doctor.
2. May be accepted from Plunket Nurse’s as long as the client’s GP is aware of referral.
3. Triaged by phone contact with client.
4. Usually a 4-6 week waitlist though they attempt to keep a weekly slot for urgent referrals
